Merry Christmas!

The past few days have worked on us like a hot cup of cider. We drove west to Santa Rosa Beach to spend a week+ with Cassie’s family leading up to Christmas. As our friends in Trujillo get ready to celebrate Christ’s birth under the warm sun on the Peruvian coast, we are doing the same under the slightly less warm (but exquisite nonetheless) sun on the Gulf coast, soaking in some much needed family time and rest. God has been merciful to us in so many ways, and it does seem as though His grace washes over us, time and again, endlessly like the waves washing upon the shore.

After a couple days in which she got her days and nights mixed up (babies, I am told, do that sometimes), Jane is settling in beautifully to her new surroundings and (with the help of her Mamaw and aunts) letting her parents get some much needed rest (for which we are very, very grateful!). Next week, we will head inland to spend Christmas with my (Caleb) family, and are looking forward to a sweet time of fellowship with them as we celebrate one of the most wonderful festivals in our calendar, the coming of our Lord, God taking on flesh, entering our experience and making atonement for our sins.

This season is such a great time to catch up with dear friends and family, both near and far. While gearing up for some big changes next year (among them, a move to Peru), we know how important it is to keep our supporters up to date on where we are now and where we hope to be soon. You can keep up with us here, on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

At year’s end

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,

And from the River to the ends of the earth.

Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him,

And His enemies will lick the dust.

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles

Will bring presents;

The kings of Sheba and Seba

Will offer gifts.

Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him;

All nations shall serve Him.

For He will deliver the needy when he cries,

The poor also, and him who has no helper.

He will spare the poor and needy,

And will save the souls of the needy.

He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;

And precious shall be their blood in His sight. (Psalm 72:8-14).

This season is one of anticipation and joy as we look forward to celebrating the Incarnation, God made flesh, and the coming of our King Jesus to this world to save His own. We praise Jesus as our King, our Great High Priest, and our Savior! In the above passage, the psalmist proclaims Christ’s kingship as one of mercy, love, righteousness, and might. Truly we serve a mighty and merciful King!

This week has been a week of tying up loose ends and making plans for the future. As we do so, we look back upon a year filled with surprises, blessings, and adventures. Through them all, the hand of God has led, protected, and guided us along the path He designed for us. This week also marks the end of my (Caleb) penultimate semester at Florida State. In the spring, I will defend my thesis, and then (Lord willing) will be able to devote much more time to raising support and spreading the word about Peru Mission and our calling to the field. Some things have changed since we set out on this journey to prepare for the mission field (we will now make the move to Peru with a darling baby in tow), but one thing has not changed, and that is God’s perfect wisdom and provision. We have raised over 28% of our support, and are simply overwhelmed by God’s goodness and the generosity of our friends and family. It is still our plan to be in Peru sometime summer of next year. We ask for your continued prayer and support during this time of preparation. If you have not already committed to give (and so many of you have!), please prayerfully consider doing so. The Word must go forth, in all times and in all seasons, and to all peoples!

For Christmas this year, we are joyfully looking forward to a sweet time with both of our families. In addition to all the joys of the season, an added Christmas blessing this year will be our daughter’s baptism. We are so excited about this great moment in our daughter’s life. Pictures to come!

We thank you for your prayers, your uplifting words of encouragement, and your support. May God bless you and your family during this season of praise and adoration.

Merry Christmas!

Caleb (for Cassandra and Jane)
