Resolved

Resolved, that I will do whatsoever I think to be most to God’s glory and to my own good, profit, and pleasure, in the whole of my duration, without any consideration of the time, whether now or never so many myriads of ages hence. Resolved to do whatever I think to be my duty, and most for the good and advantage of mankind in general. Resolved to do this, whatever difficulties I meet with, how ever so many and how ever so great.

Resolutions–Jonathan Edwards

A few years ago, the Doolittle family had the idea of putting together a CD of classical pieces and hymns to help raise support for Peru Mission, the organization Cassie and I will soon be joining.

From the liner notes

This project began as a Christmas gift just for our grandparents, but after hearing the recording we decided to arrange some of the pieces on a CD to raise money for medical mission work in Peru. [. . .] This live recording was performed in a very acoustically beautiful hall at SIU in Carbondale, making this experience lots of fun. We are in no way professional musicians but we hope that this music blesses and touches your soul.

The CD features mom Pam on the flute, daughters Amanda, Sarah and Cassie on piano and violin (respectively), and sons Jordan and Alden on piano and guitar (respectively). The Doolittle kids have grown up a bit since recording this album (I happen to be married to one of them!), but their love for music and their dedication to serving the Lord with their talents hasn’t changed a bit.

We want this music to be as much a blessing to you as you have been to us. For this reason, we will be sending out a copy of the CD to everyone who gives to our work in the months of February and March (as long as supplies last!). This goes for our regular supporters and for new members of our support team. Please accept the CD as an expression of our thanks for your generosity. We are overwhelmed by God’s grace and provision for all of our needs. May His name be forever praised!

Support Update

Good morning, everyone! And a good morning it is, too. God’s grace abounds, joy overflows in Christ’s mercy and love, and the Holy Spirit guides, comforts, and exhorts. We praise Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

These past weeks have been a whirlwind. Through it all, God’s hand can be seen, and we know that all things fall beneath His benevolence and perfect plan for our lives. This past Monday, I (Caleb) defended my thesis successfully. As I fielded my committee’s questions, the words seemed to come easily and I was able to refer to specific places in my study without hesitation. This was due wholly to the grace of God and the prayers of the many friends and family who were lifting me up in prayer at the time. Otherwise, I would never have been able to comprehend the questions, articulate my thoughts, and recall what I had learned. No matter is too small or too big to bring before our Lord in prayer. Thank you everyone for lifting me up!

This upcoming Sunday, we will be sharing about our work in Peru with our home church in Tallahassee. This week we have been taking the opportunity to put together several new fund-raising materials (including bookmarks, placemats, and a tri-fold poster) with the generous and loving help of some of our very gifted friends at church. We are so thankful for the loving support of our church family. Please pray that the presentation would go well, that God’s name would be glorified, and that I would be able faithfully to represent the work of the Holy Spirit in Peru.

Last, but not least, we received our support report from January and are thrilled to tell everyone that God has continued to show His provision in BIG ways. We have now received in donations and commitments over 46% of our needs for four years! This is up from 35% the month before. I can’t tell you how thankful we are, and how excited we are to be getting closer and closer to our move to Peru (Lord willing) in August. At this point, we need only to raise $1,200 in monthly donations, in addition to one-time gifts to cover several  non-recurring expenses. This means that if 24 churches, families or individuals commit to giving $50 a month, we will have reached 100% of our monthly support needs! If you have already given (and so many of you have), we thank you profoundly for your kindness and generosity towards us. If you are considering giving, you can do so securely online by clicking here. You can also request a prayer card or other fundraising materials. Just email us at caleb.cassandra@gmail.com and we will get them in the mail right away!
