January

We are starting this year with a hop and skip, a sense of renewed energy and a readiness to forge ahead into whatever comes next. (You can tell I wrote this AFTER my morning cup of caffeine). We truly are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this year. I personally feel more settled and in a better routine than last year. I think that transitioning takes a good long time, but maybe, just maybe, I am finally arriving.

Here is a taste of things that are going on for us this month. We would love to have your prayers as each of next events for us come up. We cannot do these things on our own strength, and we will never bear fruit for God’s Kingdom if we rely on ourselves. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit and the Lord’s mercy that these events will bring Him glory, and us sanctification.

January 1-4: Twin Lakes camp was here! It was a huge ministry and a lot of fun for the 137 kids who attended!! See more pictures here: Twin Lake Camp

January 5th: Caleb (I was his sidekick) was the coordinator for the wedding of a couple in our church, Albert and Maresa. It was a beautiful ceremony and a true picture of Christ’s kingdom coming to this earth. Albert is Dutch and Maresa is Peruvian. Involved in their wedding were people from Peru, Holland, Korea, USA, and Spain. What an incredible, amazing event to be a part of.

January 12th: Josh and Elizabeth Johnson are coming to lunch! We are very, very thrilled about the newest members of our team. They are stopping in on their way to Arequipa to study Spanish for the next few months. Very glad the Lord has brought them here! If you want to keep in touch with what they are doing, check out their blog! http://joshandelizabethjohnson.wordpress.com/

January 19th: Caleb will be presenting a slideshow at Arevalo church about the Twin Lakes camp that they helped put on. I will be having the neighbor ladies over for tea in the afternoon!

January 20th: The mission team Sunday lunch will be at our house this day. We are very excited to be able to be a part of this again. It’s been difficult these past months to participate due to the girls’ nap schedule, so it’s a big day for us!

January 21st-23rd: We are off to Lima to work on the carnet process for Jane. Hopefully, we will be able to complete everything and get her resident visa!

January 25th: GAME NIGHT! Looking forward to a fun-filled, fantastic evening at our home with our amazing team.

In between the big events, Caleb will be steadily ploughing ahead with his work. This month, he will be:

1: Planning for projects for the year (including the Spanish-language resource website)

2: Helping the Bethesda team with a training manual for new employees

3: Organizing a mini-conference for Cristo Rey Presbyterian Church on missional cell groups

I will be having tea parties with Jane, washing dishes, nurturing little ones, folding laundry, going down the slide at the park, and cooking meals.IMG_1925
